Using the calendar

The SimpleDocs calendar makes it easy to share multiple calendars and events with other people within your organisation. Just click the "Calendar" button in the toolbar to get started.

The calendar offers monthly, weekly and single day views. Use the buttons on the right hand side to switch between views.

Multiple calendars can be created and viewed at once. From the Calendar page, click on the "Calendars" button on the left. Here you will see a list of all calendars you have access to. You can use the tick boxes to select which ones you would like displayed in the main calendar view. You can also create new calendars here using the "Create new calendar" button at the bottom. For details on editing a calendar's settings see: Create a new calendar or edit a calendar's settings

The SimpleDocs calendar supports automatic time zone conversions for events that have a start and end time. There are 3 options available for how times are displayed in the main calendar views:

  1. "Display all events in my local time" - All events listed will be converted to your local time zone. If the time zone shown here is not your local time zone, click on the link and a full list of time zones will be presented to you. The page will automatically jump to the current time zone offset that your computer is set to.
  2. "Display events in their own time zone" - When a user creates an event with a start time, they also select the local time zone for the event. If you choose this option, the calendar will list all event their respective time zones as set by the event creators.
  3. "Specify an alternative time zone" - This setting is useful if you would like to view all events in a particular time zone that is not your local time zone. This can be useful in situations such as managing events for people in a different time zone, or for when you are away from home.

To view an event's details, click on the event. On the event details page, the times will be listed in multiple time zones if appropriate.
